• Dental Exams / Cleanings

A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by the dentist at your initial dental visit.  At regular check-up exams, the dentist will examine current radiographs, complete an oral cancer screening, evaluate for gum disease, and examine teeth for decay.

Professional dental cleanings (dental prophylaxis) are performed by our Registered Dental Hygienist.  Your cleaning appointment will include:

Calculus removal:  Calculus is hardened plaque that has been left on the tooth and tightly attaches to the tooth surface.  Calculus forms above and below the gum line and can only be removed with specialized dental instruments.

Plaque removal: Plaque is an invisible film that forms on the teeth.

    Teeth polishing: Removal of stains

  • Restorative

Harmful bacteria on the tooth can lead to decay. The dentist can remove the decayed portion of the tooth and fill the area. Fillings can also be used to repair cracked or broken teeth and teeth that have been worn down. Tooth colored fillings are fabricated from porcelain or composite resin, which is undetectable and offers an aesthetically pleasing solution for a decayed tooth. This protects the tooth from infection and further decay.  When decay is left untreated, it can worsen, causing further infection and more severe pain. The infected tooth may eventually require a root canal or extraction.

  • Extractions

Our goal at Avant Dental is to preserve all teeth in the oral cavity.  Sometimes, extractions are necessary due to extensive decay, crowding, cracked teeth, etc.  In cases like these, the area is anesthetized fully to eliminate discomfort and the tooth is removed from the oral cavity by the least invasive means.

  • Endodontics – Root canal therapy

Root canal therapy is indicated when the nerve(s) of a tooth is affected by decay or infection. This treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges. Symptoms of the infection are generally acute dental pain or sensitivity to hot, cold or percussion. If you experience any of these symptoms, the dentist will most likely recommend root canal therapy to eliminate the diseased pulp. This injured pulp is removed, and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and sealed.

  • Fixed and Removable Prosthesis

A bridge may be used to replace missing teeth, help maintain the shape of your face, and alleviate stress on your bite. A bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth, and literally bridges the gap where one or more teeth may have been. Your bridge can be made from metal, porcelain, or a combination of these materials and is bonded onto surrounding teeth for support. There are two basic types of bridges. A fixed bridge is cemented in your mouth and is supported by your natural teeth. Removable bridges (partials and full dentures) are removed from the mouth several times a day for cleaning.  The removable dentures sit on the gum where the missing teeth are being replaced.

  • Invisalign

If you’re not content with your teeth due to spacing or malalignment and are looking for a viable dental solution, Invisalign is a tried-and-true teeth straightening method that’s been successfully used by millions. The Avant Dental team provides Invisalign to help you achieve your desired smile using a series of custom-made, near-invisible, thermoplastic aligner trays. • Implants

An implant is a metal device designed to replace missing teeth. The device is usually made from titanium and is surgically placed into the jawbone or maxilla where the tooth is missing. Unlike a dental bridge, an implant is attached to the patient’s bone directly. A dental implant is designed to act as the tooth root and can anchor an artificial tooth or teeth such as a crown, bridge or denture.
